Daily Wire’s drama “Confession” launches in 100 theaters and streams Nov. 11, 2026
The Daily Wire announced that its drama film Confession will open in 100 U.S. theaters for a one‑night showing on Nov. 11, 2026, the same day it streams on the Daily Wire platform.
The film premiered at the Warsaw Film Festival on Oct. 15, where it was highlighted for its star‑studded cast and thematic focus on communism, faith and moral courage.
Confession features Rob Lowe as former literature professor Alexei, James Franco as his former student‑turned‑interrogator Vladimir, and a supporting lineup that includes Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kodi Smit‑McPhee, Nick Nolte, Richard Brake, Emile Hirsch, Brad Dourif and Dean Norris—all of whom have earned Oscar, Emmy or Golden Globe nominations.
Ben Shapiro, co‑founder of The Daily Wire, wrote the screenplay and described the project as an “extraordinarily beautiful and honest film deeply rooted in faith, morality, virtue, hardship, and what it means to be a free and decent human being.”
Acclaimed Czech director Václav Marhoul, known for The Painted Bird, helmed the production, calling it a “truly great challenge” and noting its intimate, dialogue‑driven approach set largely within Lubyanka Prison.
The story is set in Stalin’s 1938 Moscow. Alexei is arrested and taken to Lubyanka, where he is accused of conspiring with a dissident priest. He faces grueling interrogation by Vladimir, who forces him to choose between betrayal and conscience, a decision that tests his redemption and the survival of the human spirit.
Lowe said the film tells “an incredible story of the human spirit and its survival against those who would crush it.” Marhoul added that the visual style, crafted with cinematographer Peter Menzies, was designed to match the story’s sensitive moral stakes.
After its festival debut, Confession’s limited theatrical run will be followed by immediate availability on The Daily Wire, allowing subscribers to watch the film nationwide on the same day.
